#PressforProgress: Rocca Sisters Honour International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day took place on Thursday, March 8th and is focused on inspiring women around the world and celebrating their economic, political and social achievements, as well as focusing world attention on areas that still require further action. We wanted to reach out and recognize all the incredible, hardworking women in our community.

 Each year, a theme is picked by the United Nations. This year, the theme is #PressforProgress.

With the recent Hollywood film industry scandal and World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Reportfindings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away – there has never been a more important time to keep motivated and #PressforProgress. We are lucky to live in a community where strong leadership by women is accepted and celebrated. As two nationally top-ranked sales representatives, we support any woman striving to achieve their goals and trying to make a difference. And when you do achieve success, it is also just as important to give back to the community that helped you, and lend a hand to others who need it.

 We would personally like to share our appreciation and respect for our mother, Joan Rocca, who impacted our lives in ways words could never express. She was a strong loving woman and she made us into who we are today, instilling in us the passion to strive for the top. Our mother passed away from Ovarian Cancer in 2009. Since then, we have celebrated her and carried on her memory through various Ovarian Cancer projects throughout the community to help give support to other women suffering from the disease. Our mother was an incredible woman and she continues to make an impact in our lives each and every day.

 We are very fortunate to live in a country where there are no restrictions to what women can do, or what we can achieve. We invite you to reach out to the special women in your life who have made an impact on you, and make your appreciation known!
